A BEAUTIFUL LIFE: TWO MINUTES OF INSPIRATION
Written by Kat Fletcher
A beautiful life is built, not fallen upon. It’s something we have to craft, with intention and care, and insight into ourselves.
It’s about creating habits that nourish us, and going after what truly lights us up, rather than settling for what seems ‘realistic’ or logical.
It’s about putting the work in to become the creator of that which calls us - and I’m not just talking about putting time in. Many people spend time on things all day, every day, but still end up feeling like they’re in a box, operating at a fraction of what they could.
I’m talking about taking the risks, stepping into the unknown, asking yourself - what would it look like if I was 100% committed to my dreams?
I’m talking about surrendering. Putting your hands up to what you thought you knew, what you once thought you wanted, and releasing that tightly held grip so that you can finally be open to what is truly meant for you – what, deep in the depths of your ocean heart, you knew… perhaps forgot, perhaps hid from, but always knew.
And I’m talking about slowing down, to the extent that when that time comes, the one where you would usually (and for your whole life have) followed the unconscious pattern that’s kept you trapped, you choose differently.
Instead of not speaking your mind for fear of ‘rocking the boat’, or saying - yes okay, when your soul says - no, it’s not enough, you become grounded and aware enough that just for a millisecond, life goes slow motion, and in a moment of clarity and boldness you choose a new way of being. You venture out to test the waters in the voyage that is your life.
You see, the ‘work’ is not just about the time and effort you put into something.
The work is your choosing, day after day, to go out to sea rather than stay at the comfortable shore, dreaming of some other island that may exist in some other place, but never actually setting one foot in front of the other, waves crashing and all, to see what’s out there.
You see, a beautiful life is waiting for you, and sure enough it wants you to swim.
It wants you to fail at those things that were never really for you, so that you can realise those that are. It wants you to get your heart broken, so that you can remember how loved and powerful you are as you stitch it back together.
It wants you to create that art, move to that new place, start that business. It wants you to show up. It wants you to learn what truly nourishes your soul, and then give that to yourself. It wants you to be both at peace and deeply thrilled by the overflow that is your life.
A beautiful life is waiting, and it’s love for you is boundless.
