5 SMALL POEMS I WROTE TO REMIND WOMEN OF THEIR WORTH
Written by Kat Fletcher
You race,
and you may
pass the finish line.
A line you never even drew,
but you use to define
yourself.
Only you missed
all those little daisies,
waiting
to be picked and kissed
and made into
your crown.
Queen of your life,
you cannot be defined
by lines.
Lay me down,
gently
and tell me
I am good
I am good
I am good
and when the words
fail me,
when words
just cannot explain me
because words
cannot contain me,
I feel it.
Bloom
through my body
and I just bloom
and bloom
and bloom.
And so the rose, rose.
Yes, she did.
Up from the loving ground.
And what a sight to behold,
wearing that fearless blush.
What stories might be told
as petals unfold.
Those thorns are sharp,
but her heart is gold.
Wild rivers
roaming to find
their ocean.
And how it
calls them so.
Oh to know
just how expansive
you are.
The birds sing to wake you.
Lift the mask
gently from your eyes
slip out
from under your covers
stretch your arms
and rise.
The day is here
come all the way from night
to tell you
I love you.
Oh how I love
to see you rise
and how I love
to see you shine.
